Silicone Protective Face Mask
Silicone Protective Face Mask also known as Full Face Mask, Total Face Mask Cpap, Medical Silicone Face Mask, NIV Mask, Total Medical Face Mask, etc, which are made from FDA Medical Grade Silicone or FDA Medical Grade Liquid Silicone by compression mold or Liquid Silicone Injection Molding.
Generally, for simple structure silicone protective face mask without high quality requirements, compression molding is OK for production. In this way, compression mold tool cost is much cheaper than LSR Injection Mold. Usually the mold tool cost is 3000-3500USD. While for silicone mask with high quality requirements, can only choose liquid silicone injection mold.
Silicone Protective Face Mask by LSR Molding
For Silicone Protective Face Mask with high requirements, like Total Full Face Mask, Medical Silicone Mask CPAP, choosing liquid silicone injection mold is much better than compression mold, the material feeding system is different, also the temperature & pressure are controlled by machine, so the mold is precise, tolerance can up to 0.02mm.
CPAP Full Face Mask produced by Liquid Silicone Injection Molding is with high quality, no flash & burrs, if produce by compression mold, there will probably big flash, once the burrs fall into the human body, that would be not OK; and the parting line will also bigger than the Laryngeal Mask produced by Liquid Silicone Injection Molding, the patients will feel uncomfotable during use. Because the injection molding’s material feeding system is different from compression molding, the temperature, pressure and injection way is controlled by the machine.
Liquid Silicone Material is is safer than solid silicone for compression molding. LSR is resistant to bacteria growth and won’t stain or corrode other materials. (during production process, solid silicone for compression molding needs to put on the mold manually, and sometimes in order to make the part eject from the mold easier, production people will spray mold release on the mold, while if produced bu injection molding, there won’t be this kinds of concerns, because the whole process is completed by machine. )
LSR Material can be fully cured, so it is more safe, biocompatibility is good. The material can be sterilized via a variety of methods, including steam autoclaving, ethylene oxide (ETO), gamma, e-beam and numerous other techniques, meeting all required approvals such as BfR XV, FDA 21 CFR 177.2600, etc. The followed are the material data sheet for your reference:
